What does Cellucor C4 50x do?
Made by well-known brand Cellucor, this is an all natural pre workout claimed to promote:
- Energy
- Power
- Strength
- Stamina
But how well does it really work?
In this review, we take a closer look at C4
50x to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
We wouldn’t recommend it.
For starters we don’t know how much caffeine is in this product.
Our recommended safe limit is 300mg – if C4 50x goes over this you’re at a high risk of side effects.
Not only that there’s also a lot of Beta Alanine already in this product.
We strongly recommend against a double serving.
What about the ingredients in Cellucor C4 50x?
Not that great.
There are some ineffective ingredients in here, and also a proprietary blend.
This means the dosage of the ingredients in the blend have been hidden.
Meaning? You don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting – so you don’t know how effective it will actually be.
Here’s what you need to know about the main ingredients:
B12
A good natural vitamin that helps promote energy and metabolism.
It’s a nice supporting nutrient, but doesn’t have that much of an impact in the grand scheme of things.
Beta Alanine
A better option for endurance – but there may be some issues.
Although it’s been seen to help buffer the acid in your muscles, which may increase power output and endurance it can cause several side effects.
More on that later.
Creatine Nitrate
One of the better options for strength and power.
By increasing ATP levels – what gives your muscles energy – creatine allows you to stay stronger for longer.
It also increases water retention helping with both size and strength.
Arginine AKG
Not a great option despite claims.
Although Arginine may help to improve Nitric Oxide levels in your blood stream – which can help with muscle pumps, studies have shown it isn’t absorbed efficiently.
For the best results you need something like L-Citrulline which works like a pre cursor to Arginine.
L-Tyrosine
A good anti-stressor – may help with jitters from caffeine.
By promoting dopamine and serotonin in your body. L-Tyrosine may help you feel more relaxed and motivated while training.
Caffeine
Arguably your best option for energy.
Caffeine is a natural stimulant that is used in countless energy products.
It promotes energy, power output and in some cases even metabolism and fat loss.
It’s a good bet here.
Velvet Bean
May help with stress levels.
Also known as Mucuna Pruriens, Velvet Bean is full of L-Dopa, a nutrient known to raise dopamine levels and lower stress.
This can help with overall mood and motivation.
TeaCor (Tetramethyluric Acid)
Also known as Theacrine. This is a compound that is structurally similar to caffeine.
The belief is that it has the same effects as the stimulant with the tolerance build up.
However, studies have shown otherwise with it being very unreliable for any real results during studies.
It may not be your best option.
Ingredients Rundown: On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile out there. For starters, there’s a proprietary blend. You don’t known how much of each ingredient you’re getting or how effective it will be overall. Not only that, several of the ingredients used are on the whole ineffective. There are some good options, but on the whole it’s not looking good.
Side Effects
There are two ingredients that could cause problems here; the caffeine and the Beta Alanine.
Beta Alanine may help with endurance, but it may also cause paresthesia.
This is an itching in both the hands and face – although not harmful, it is incredibly irritating. We speak from experience.
It may break your concentration during this session.
Not only that the caffeine is part of a proprietary blend – you don’t know how much of it you’re getting, it could be too much. Which could cause:
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Raised Heart Rate
Be careful with this C4 50x.
