What does Dr’s Elite Nutrition’s X-Treme do?
Made by Dr’s Elite, this is an all natural pre Workout claimed to promote:
- Muscular Endurance
- Power Output
But how well does it really work?
In this review, we look closer at X-Plosive to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
We wouldn’t recommend it.
The main reason being is because we don’t know how much caffeine in this product.
This means it could be over our recommended safe limit of 300mg.
If this is the case it could lead to side effects.
Our best advice is to use it as directed and assess your tolerance – upping the dosage to your liking.
What about the ingredients in Dr Elite’s X-Treme?
Not the best we’ve seen.
The main issue with X-Treme is that all the main ingredients are part of a proprietary blend.
This means you don’t know how much you’re getting of each ingredient or how effective it will be overall.
This is because all the individual dosages of each ingredient are hidden, and instead are grouped together under one larger dosage.
It’s not great for measuring the effectiveness.
Not only that, some of the ingredients used have been linked to causing side effects.
Here’s what you need to know:
One of the better amino acids out there for muscle pumps.
L-Citrulline works by promoting nitric oxide in your body. This a vasodilator that dilates blood vessels and dramatically improves blood flow.
This allows for effective and noticeable muscle pumps – however studies have shown that you need 6000 – 8000mg for this nutrient to be effective.
Being part of a proprietary blend – it’s hard to know if you’re getting enough of it.
An amino acid with mixed results.
Beta Alanine has both good points and bad points.
One the good side, BA helps to buffer acid in your muscles which helps to promote both endurance and power output.
However on the bad side, it has been linked to causing several side effects.
One of the better options for strength.
Creatine works by fuelling your body’s ATP – what your muscles use for energy.
This helps to improves your overall power output and endurance while training.
Not a great option.
L-Arginine works in a similar way to L-Citrulline to promote nitric oxide and increase overall muscle pumps – however studies have shown L-Arginine is not absorbed properly when supplemented orally.
It won’t have much effect in this product.
Another amino acid – but it doesn’t make much difference.
Taurine has been seen to help circulation and blood flow. Not enough to improve muscle pumps – but it may help with nutrient flow.
One of the better natural stimulants.
We don’t have to tell you how great caffeine is. Used in numerous energy drinks and ‘pick-me-ups’ caffeine is great for improving both energy and power output.
It has also been seen in some studies to help give a boost to metabolism levels too.
In a similar field to Taurine – this is a good supporting nutrient, but not your best option.
Theobromine has been seen in numerous studies to help promote blood flow.
This may help nutrients get around your system and speed up their activation time – but won’t make much difference in the grand scheme of things.
An appetite suppressant that may not be all it’s cracked up to be.
Although it has been seen in several studies to help curb appetite – studies have shown that it may cause side effects.
On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile we’ve seen in a pre workout.
The first problem is that the main ingredients are all part of a proprietary blend – this means you don’t know how much of each ingredient is being used, or how effective it will be overall.
The second issue are the side effect risks – both beta alanine and Yohimbe have been linked to causing side effects.
It also seems like it could be quite under dosed in some places given the proprietary blend.
It’s not your best option as a pre workout.
There are two main ingredients here, the Beta Alanine, and the Yohimbe.
Beta Alanine has its advantages but has been reported by numerous users to cause paresthesia.
This is an itching in both the hands and face – although not harmful, it can be distracting and has the potential to ruin your session.
The second problem is the Yohimbe. Although, it has been linked to curbing appetite – studies have shown it can lead to anxiety, hypertension and gastrointestinal distress.
Are there better Pre Workouts out there?
Yes – there definitely are!

- Can’t take double servings – The caffeine dosage is unknown, so it may be a risk to double up.
