What does EVOGEN EVP EVOPOIETIN 1 Alpha do?
Made by EVOGEN, this is an all natural pre workout that has been seen to promote:
- Muscle Size
- Strength
- Pump
But how well does it really work?
In this review, we look closer at EVP to see how effective it really is.
Here’s what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
We don’t recommend it.
Our main concern is that EVP has side effects associated with it.
Doubling up may increase your chance of this happening.
If you’ve got EVP already and you’re looking for advice, start slow. Take one serving and see if you feel any side effects – then slowly ramp it up.
But we think it’s too big of a risk.
What about the ingredients in EVOGEN EVP?
Not that great.
The first problem with this supplement are the proprietary blends.
This is where numerous ingredients are grouped together under the same value, rather than individually.
Not knowing the individual doses is a big problem – you don’t know how much you’re getting of each ingredient, or how effective it will be overall.
It makes it pretty unreliable, not only that, several ingredients may cause side effects.
Here’s what you need to know:
L-Leucine
A branch chain amino acid that helps with protein synthesis.
It may aid muscle recovery to a minor extent but it won’t make a huge difference to your workout.
L-Arginine
A poor vasodilator.
L-Arginine has been seen to promote Nitric Oxide which helps with blood flow and muscle pumps.
It’s incredibly effective – but not when supplemented orally. It is too difficult for the body to absorb and has very little impact.
Creatine
One of the better options.
Creatine helps to restore ATP in the body – these are your muscles energy stores.
By supplementing Creatine you can train with more power, and for longer.
Citrulline
A better version of L-Arginine.
Easy to absorb, and is converted into L-Arginine in your kidneys.
This avoids the problem with typical arginine supplementation and gives you the overall benefit of effective muscle pumps.
L-Glutamine
A poorer choice.
Glutamine makes no real difference to training.
If you’re deficient in it, supplementing it may reduce your cravings for sugar – but after that there’s no real difference.
Beta Alanine
Good for endurance – but there are some drawbacks,
Beta Alanine has been seen to buffer acid in your muscles, this promotes power and endurance.
However, research has shown that nutrient may cause side effects – more on that in the next section.
Tyrosine
An anti stressor, that could help with mood.
L-Tyrosine has been seen to promote ‘happy hormones’ like serotonin and dopamine.
It’ll help to calm your mood and keep you focused on training.
Vinpocetine
More of a brain booster, Vinpocetine has been seen to promote memory and blood flow.
Ingredients Rundown:
On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile you can expect from a pre workout.
The main problem are the proprietary blends – you don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting in EVOGEN EVP or how effective it will be overall.
On top of that, some ingredients have pretty much no effect on performance, while others like the Beta Alanine may cause side effects.
It’s not your best option.
Side Effects
The main thing that you have to worry about here is the beta alanine.
Although it has been seen to increase power and endurance – it has also been linked to causing paresthesia, which is an itching in the hands and face.
It’s not that harmful, but it is distracting, and can ruin you’re session if you’re not prepared for it.
