What does Vintage Blast do?
Made by Old School Labs, this is an all natural pre workout claimed to promote:
- Endurance
- Energy
- Power
- Pump
But how well does it really work?
In this review we look closer at Vintage Blast to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
We don’t recommend it.
This pre workout has 250mg of caffeine per serving overall.
This means double scooping would get you 500mg in a serving.
That’s way past our safe limit of 300mg. This could lead to numerous negative side effects.
Our best advice is to stick the standard serving – it’s strong enough.
What about the ingredients in Vintage Blast?
They’re okay – but they could be better.
Don’t get us wrong – there are some good ingredients in Vintage Blast, but there are also some bad ones too.
Some of the nutrients used are under-dosed, irrelevant, or may even cause side effects.
It’s not good.
Here’s what you need to know:
Citrulline Malate
One of the better choices – and great for pumps.
Citrulline Malate is a great choice, converted into L-Arginine after absorption, this amino acid is great for promoting nitric oxide levels.
Nitric Oxide is a great vasodilator, and helps promote both circulation and blood vessel dilation.
The end result is an incredible muscle pump.
There’s a good amount here as studies suggest 5 – 8g for the best results.
Beta Alanine
An option with both good and bad points.
Beta Alanine has been seen in studies to help with buffering acid in the muscles. This can help with endurance and explosive power.
However, there’s an issue. Use of this nutrient can also cause nasty side effects.

L-Arginine
A poorer choice.
Although Arginine is converted in your body into Nitric Oxide, there’s an issue with it being absorbed.
That’s why better pre workouts stick to Citrulline, it gets in and converts to Arginine for you.
This is more of a waste than anything.
Carnitine Tartrate
Not well dosed for the desired effect.
Carnitine may help to raise both energy and metabolism, but there’s a problem with the dosing.
For the best results you need 500 – 2500mg per serving to get the most benefit.
At only 250mg, this won’t do much.
Caffeine
One of the better choices.
Caffeine has been seen to promote both energy and power output.
You don’t need us to tell you how good it is – anything with a kick, you’ll find caffeine.
In some cases it may even induce fat loss by speeding up metabolism.
There’s also an extra 100mg in here that are micro-encapsulated, these will kick in shortly after the first burst of energy.
D-Aspartic Acid
Not a great pre workout, but may help with male health.
DAA is used for reactions in the brain that may lead to an increase in testosterone.
Which may indirectly help with your workout.
L-Tyrosine
Will help with focus.
L-Tyrosine has been seen to promote anti-stress hormones in your body like serotonin and dopamine.
This may help manage stress levels, and jitters that may kick in with high caffeine.
Synephrine
One of the worst ingredients that could be chosen.
Synephrine was thought to help with fat loss and energy levels – however evidence has been lacking.
Although there has been some evidence that it can cause some considerable side effects. Will cover those in the following section.
Ingredients Rundown:
On the whole, although there are some good ingredients, this isn’t your best option as a pre workout.
There’s a risk of side effects with the Synephrine and Beta Alanine.
Whereas ingredients like L-Arginine won’t even be properly absorbed.
There are better options out there.
Side Effects
There are two main concerns here; the Beta Alanine and the Synephrine.
Beta Alanine has been seen in numerous cases to cause paresthesia – a condition which causes itching in both the face and hands.
Whereas Synephrine is far worse, and has been seen to cause a lot of side effects when combined with caffeine such as:
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Increased Heart Rate
- Increased Risk of High Blood Pressure
It’s definitely an option that you don’t want while you’re trying to train with intensity.

Yes – there definitely are!

All in all, this isn’t the best pre workout on the market.
From this review, here’s what you need to know about Vintage Blast;
- Can’t be double scooped – Doubling up on the servings is dangerous because of the caffeine / you can’t get the full benefits of the rest of the ingredients.
- Potential Side Effects – Beta Alanine and Synephrine have been seen to cause side effects.
- Some irrelevant ingredients – Some of the nutrients won’t directly support your workout.
On the whole this isn’t your best choice as a pre workout.
