What does Pride Nutrition Retaliate do?
Manufactured by Pride Nutrition, this pre workout is an all natural supplement that has been claimed to:
- Boost Strength
- Increase Energy
- Maximize Focus
But how well does it really work?
In this review, we look closely at Retaliate to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
We wouldn’t recommend it.
Although there isn’t any caffeine in this product, we’ve found that there may be a side effect risk.
You can find out more about what we found below:
How are the ingredients in Retaliate?
Mediocre – there’s a few problems.
The main issue with this product are the proprietary blends. It’s left us without knowing the exact dosages of many of the ingredients used in this product.
On top of that, there’s also an issue with side effects.
We’ve covered the main ingredients below with what you need to know:
Creatine Blend
One of the better options for strength.
Creatine is used by your body for water retention, making it great for explosive power.
By storing water in your muscles, you have larger, stronger muscles to lift more.
It’s a good addition here.
BCAA Blend
Not the best choice.
There’s an argument that BCAAs may help your body to synthesize protein and recover faster.
However most of these are made by your body already. If you’re diet’s on point, this won’t make too much difference.
Betaine Anhydrous
An extract of beetroot, and does have its uses.
Having been seen replenish electrolytes while training, or if your low on them, Betaine has been seen to increase overall endurance.
Glycocymine
Mainly used to promote joint health.
This won’t get you more motivated to train, but it may help strengthen your joints long term to prevent against training injuries.
Guanidinopropionic Acid
A potentially dangerous Creatine copycat.
Binding to your body’s transporters of Creatine, GPA may stop Creatine going to certain areas of your body.
This can lower your body’s natural supply of Creatine, which can have dangerous effects on organ health long term.
Avoid it.
Arginine blend
Arginine isn’t a good choice.
Although it’s been seen to increase nitric oxide in the blood stream – which helps with vasodilation and muscle pumps – it doesn’t work orally.
It’s not absorbed properly by your body. For the best results you need something that is converted to L-Arginine after consumption.
L-Citrulline or Citrulline Malate is a great choice for this.
L-Orthanine
A supporter of L-Arginine and may help reduce ammonia levels in high doses.
However it will not do much in this product.
L-Tyrosine
An amino acid that is linked to mood elevation and stress reduction.
L-Tyrosine may get you more motivated for training, which could always help.
It does well to calm caffeine down – but that’s not an issue in this blend as it doesn’t contain any.
L-Lycine
May support the benefits L-Arginine.
However due to the poor absorption, it won’t make much difference – as L-Arginine can’t into your system in the first place.
Ingredients Rundown:
On the whole, the ingredients in Pride Nutrition’s Retaiate aren’t that great.
There are some good choices in there, but the fact that they’re covered in proprietary blends really damaged their reliability – how do we know how much we’re getting.
On top of that, they’ve focused on L-Arginine, which is a bad move. It doesn’t get absorbed well at all.
L-Citrulline or Citrulline Malate would’ve been a much better choice.
It’s a real shame.
Plus there’s also a side effect with the GPA.
Side Effects
As we said before, the GPA is a big risk.
By its ability to manipulate your Creatine transporters, there’s a risk of your Creatine not going to the right areas.
Sure it’ll keep going to your muscles, but at the cost of other areas like your heart missing the natural supply that it needs.
More research is definitely needed in this, and we’re actually surprised Pride Nutrition decided to use it.
