Can I double scoop it?
We strongly recommend against doing that.
With 250mg of caffeine per serving, doubling up would give you half a gram of this stimulant. That’s a hell of a lot.
As a safe limit to still have great results, we always recommend around 150 – 300mg.
500mg is way off. If you’re looking to double up – choose a different product.
What about the ingredients in Vitamin Bounty’s Pre Workout?
There are some good ingredients in this product – however there are some bad points.
Our main concerns here was under-dosing and side effects.
Don’t get us wrong, it’s an okay product – but there are some risks you need to be aware of:
It’s a good nutrient for endurance – but is it safe?
Beta Alanine is known for its ability to buffer acid in your muscles.
This allows you to have more endurance and power output during a workout.
However, studies have shown that this nutrient may cause side effects. More on that in the following section.
A poor choice.
Arginine, on paper, is great. By boosting your body’s levels of nitric oxide, it increases blood flow and maximizes overall pump.
The only problem is that in practice, it’s nowhere near as good.
The problem is the absorption. After being consumed, your body struggles to absorb Arginine and harness its benefits.
Citrulline cuts out the problem you face with L-Arginine.
By cutting out the middle man, Citrulline is easily absorbed and then converted into Arginine into your liver.
This allows you to increase your overall nitric oxide and experience those wicked muscle pumps.
Or it would, if it wasn’t for its small dosage.
Studies have shown you need at least 5 – 8g of Citrulline to get the proper results you need.
Another good choice – but is it well dosed?
L-Carnitine is good for two things in particular, boosting energy and metabolism.
However, studies have shown you need from 500 – 2500mg to get the best results, and with an effective 750mg here – Vitamin Bounty delivers.
Not good for energy, but better for focus.
By supplying your body with L-Dopa, Mucuna Pruriens promote feel good hormones in your body like serotonin and dopamine.
This can also help lower your overall stress levels. With a calmer mind and less stress, you’ll be able to focus more on the matter at hand.
Despite being used in energy drinks, taurine does not promote energy levels.
What it does do is promote circulation. This can help with nutrient flow and overall absorption of the product.
We all know how good caffeine is.
It’s arguably the best natural stimulant out there.
It’s great for energy, power output and even in some cases, fat loss.
And at 250mg per serving – it’s just right for a safe, yet effective amount. We wouldn’t recommend double-scooping it.
Usually found in dark chocolate – and may have some benefit.
Theobromine can help boost nitric oxide in the blood after absorption – although it’s minor.
You may have a minuscule increase in pump. The real business ingredient doing this is the Citrulline – and it would be a lot better if it wasn’t so under-dosed.
One of the poorer choices.
Yohimbe has been seen to promote appetite suppression – but there’s a problem.
It has been reported to have numerous side effects – many of which you don’t want while training.
On the whole this is a pretty mediocre product.
Although it contains some good ingredients, there’s an issue with dosages.
Especially when the L-Citrulline’s concerned. You may get some form of a pump – but it won’t be as good as it could be.
On top of that the Beta Alanine and Yohimbe have both been linked to causing side effects – something nobody wants during a session.
There are two main ingredients you have to worry about when it comes to side effects – the Beta Alanine and the Yohimbine.
Beta Alanine has been seen in various studies to cause paresthesia – an itching of the face and hands.
It’s not dangerous – but it’s incredibly distracting and annoying, which can massively influence your workout, and not in a good way.
Whereas the Yohimbe is far more risky. Although it promotes appetite suppression – which has its uses, it can also cause problems.
Yohimbe has been reported to promote anxiety, hypertension and gastrointestinal distress.
All things that could ruin a good session.

From this review, here’s what you need to know about Vitamin Bounty’s product;
- Potential Side Effects – some of the nutrients listed may cause side effects.
- Under-dosed in places – Not all the ingredients are delivering at the recommended effective range.
- Can’t double scoop it – Already packing 250mg per serving, we don’t recommend double scooping this pre workout.
