What does Performix Pump do?
Manufactured by Performix, this is an all natural pre workout that is claimed to promote:
- Muscle Pumps
- Overall Focus
But how well does it really work?
In this review, we look closer at Pump to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
Although it is caffeine-free, we recommend against double dosing on this product.
The main problem is that one of the ingredients in this product may potentially cause side effects – it’s not a good sign.
You don’t want to double your risk.
What about the ingredients in Performix Pump?
Not that great.
It’s not off to a great start – the main problem is that it’s one big prosperity blend.
What’s bad about that?
You don’t know how much of each ingredient is being used – and so you don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting overall.
Which gives Performix a risk of being under dosed in some areas.
Not only that, it’s only aimed at improving pump, and not all the ingredient do that function well.
Here’s what you need to know:
L-Citrulline
One of the better amino acids for muscle pumps – but you need a lot to get the best results.
L-Citrulline is an easily absorbed amino acid that is converted into L-Arginine in your kidneys and promotes nitric oxide.
This means it dilates your blood vessels – which allows more blood to pass to your muscles which results in awesome pumps.
Studies have shown you need between 6000 – 8000mg of Citrulline for the best results, and with less than 5000mg in the total of this blend – it’s unlikely that you’ll get this.
Agmatine
Not that great of a choice.
Agmatine/Inositol is thought to help blood flow – and it does so, but not to a great extent.
This may help promote nutrient flow rather than muscle pump and might help with overall absorption.
It’s not your best option here.
Arginine
Despite what you read about Citrulline – Arginine is not a good option.
Although it does boost nitric oxide levels and gives you that overall muscle pump – that’s only if you can absorb it.
When it comes to oral supplementation Arginine falls short of the mark. You can’t absorb it properly to get the full effects.
You’re always better with Citrulline.
Norvaline
A branch chain amino acid that may do more harm than good.
It helps make the effects of L-Arginine in your system last a lot longer – so it’ll work great with your Citrulline in this product.
However it has been seen to cause various side effects that we’ll get into later on.
Ashwagandha
May help your mood – but not your performance,
Ashwagandha has been seen to reduce overall levels of the stress hormone cortisol – the stress hormone.
With less stress during your workout, you may be able to focus and concentrate more.
Grape Extract
May help increase blood flow – although results seem to vary.
It doesn’t help that this is in a proprietary blend, it’s unlikely that it dosed high enough for effective enough results.
Black Pepper
Nothing special here. Black Pepper has been seen to help with overall absorption.
It’ll slightly speed up the process of this entering your system.
Ingredients Rundown:
On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile you can come across.
Let’s look at the facts – it’s a proprietary blend in a pre workout that specializes in giving you a pump.
This is where every nutrient counts and is dosed according – but as this a proprietary blend, we have no idea if that is the case.
On top of that, the norvaline may cause side effects and some of the nutrients used are on the whole, ineffective.
It’s not your best option.
Side Effects
Your main problem here is the L-Norvaline, although it may extend the period of your pump – it has been linked to causing the following problems:
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Light headedness
And as we don’t know how much is being used – it may be more likely that you’ll experience these effects.
It’s not good, and we strongly advise against using it.
