What does Beyond Yourself PreSet do?

Made by Beyond Yourself, this is an all natural pre workout that has been claimed to promote:

  • Energy
  • Performance
  • Strength

But how well does it really work?

In this review, we look closer at Beyond Yourself to see how effective it really is.

This is what you need to know:

Can I double-scoop it?

We wouldn’t recommend it – but maybe you could do 1 and half scoops.

The ingredients in PreSet are low doses – but the caffeine is high.

It’s got 200mg of the stuff per serving – which is good, but we wouldn’t advise double scooping it.

As a rule we recommend using 150 – 300mg of caffeine for a workout.

400mg would be seriously pushing it if you double scooped.

Taking an extra half scoop to get to 300mg would definitely help, and also help flesh out the other ingredients.

What about the ingredients in Beyond Yourself PreSet?

They’re okay – a little on the slim side though.

PreSet is a very stripped back pre workout. There are only a few ingredients and not all of them are great

In fact, some are under dosed and others may cause side effects.

Here’s what you need to know:beyond-yourself-preset-side-effects

Beta Alanine

Not a great choice.

Beta Alanine has been seen to increase endurance by how it helps to buffer the acid in your muscles.

This can help you go for longer and even give you more explosive power.

However, there may be a drawback – there have been numerous reports of this nutrient causing side effects.

More on this later.

L-Citrulline

A much better choice – but is there enough?

Studies have shown that L-Citrulline is converted into L-Arginine after being absorbed.

This allows it to increase your body’s overall supply of nitric oxide – which dilates your blood vessels and gives you an awesome pump.

However, studies have shown you need around 5 – 8g per serving for the best results – which this pre workout doesn’t deliver.

L-Arginine

Although good for pumps – it’s not good for oral supplementation.

L-Arginine has been shown to be absorbed poorly when supplemented orally.

That’s why L-Citrulline is a better option – it’s much easier to absorb.

This however, may have little effect.

Caffeine

One of the best natural stimulants out there.

Caffeine has been seen promote energy and power output.

In some studies it’s even been seen to help promote metabolism and fat loss.

It’s a good addition.

Vitamin B3

Nothing special here.

An essential vitamin that most people are not deficient in.

It may have some mild cardiovascular effects – but it’s not promising.beyond-yourself-preset-results

Ingredients Rundown:

On the whole, this is a very basic ingredient profile.

The only winners here are the caffeine and the L-Citrulline – and the Citrulline is under dosed.

A lot more could be added here to make it a much more effective product.

It’s seems highly stimulant driven, with not much else to improve your workout.

Side Effects

Your main concern here is the beta alanine.

Linked to causing paresthesia, an itching of the hands and face – it could be very distracting during a workout.

It’s not dangerous – but it is annoying. We’ve experienced it ourselves and we wouldn’t recommend it.

Beyond Yourself PreSet Review Conclusion

On the whole, this isn’t the best pre workout on the market.

From this review, this is what you need to know about Pre Set;

  • Can’t double scoop it – Caffeine dose is too high for us to recommend double scooping.
  • Under dosed in places – L-Citrulline is far too under dosed here to be effective.
  • Potential Side Effects – Beta Alanine may cause paresthesia.

As you can see, it’s not your best option.
