What does Controlled Labs White Flood do?
Made by Controlled Labs, this is an all natural pre workout that is claimed to promote:
- Muscle Pumps
- Energy
- Strength
But how effective is it really?
In this review, we take a closer look at White Flood to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
We don’t recommend it.
Overall, White Flood has 300mg of caffeine. This is right on our recommended safe dosage.
Going over this figure (I.e. By doubling up all the way to 600mg) may cause side effects.
You don’t want to be taking the risk with this option.
What about the ingredients in White Flood?
Not that great.
There are some good ingredients in this supplement – however quite a few are under dosed.
Not only that, it’s a bit of thin nutrient profile and may even cause side effects.
It’s just not a good option, take a look:
Citrulline Malate
One of the better amino acids out here for workouts – especially when it comes to muscle pumps.
After being absorbed, Citrulline Malate is converted by your body into L-Arginine which promotes Nitric Oxide.
Why is this good? Because it dilates blood vessels.
This allows more blood to be pushed into your muscles at a time and can give you some incredible pumps.
One thing we would say however, is that the dosage is a little low here. Although 3000mg sounds like a lot, it’s not for L-Citrulline.
Studies have shown that you need around 6000 – 8000mg for it to be truly effective.
Creatine
One of the better choices for energy and power.
By fueling ATP receptors in your muscles – essentially what gives them energy – creatine helps promote gym sessions by increasing your explosive power.
It also helps by retaining more water in your muscles too.
Beta Alanine
A good option for performance – but it does have its drawbacks.
Known to buffer the acid in your muscles, Beta Alanine has been seen to increase endurance and explosive power.
However studies have shown that it may cause side effects in some users – we’ll cover more of what those are later on.
Betaine
From Beetroot, betaine has been linked to improving endurance by promoting plasma nitrate in the body.
This has been seen to help athletes performing anaerobic activities like running.
Taurine
An amino acid that is typically found in energy drinks.
Contrary to popular belief – taurine does not promote energy levels, it’s more of a circulation booster.
It may increase blood and nutrient flow throughout your body – but not enough for a decent muscle pump.
GABA
One of the better amino acids for cognitive function.
GABA is a depressive, that promotes calming in the body.
This may allow you to be more focused and suffer less from any feelings of stress or anxiety.
It’s a solid mental aid here.
Caffeine
Arguably the best natural stimulant out there.
Caffeine has been seen to promote energy and power output in the gym.
It has even been seen in some cases to help boost metabolism which may even help with fat loss.
Ingredients Bottom Line: On the whole, this isn’t the best ingredients profile on the market. Some of the better choices like the L-Citrulline are under dosed, whereas other options like the Beta Alanine may cause side effects. There’s also a lot of caffeine here (300mg in total) which in our opinion, recommend against double scooping.
Side Effects
The main concern here is the beta alanine.
Although it does have various performance benefits – there’s a risk that it may cause paresthesia.
This is an itching of both the face and hands.
Although not permanently harmful – it is incredibly distracting and can even tank your gym session.
It’s not good to have in your system.
