What does TNT’s Light the Fuse do?
Manufactured by TNT, this is an all natural pre workout that is claimed to promote:
- Muscle Pumps
But how well does it actually work?
In this review, we look closer at Light the Fuse to see how effective it actually is.
This is what you need to know:
Can I double scoop it?
Due to the caffeine content (251mg) we recommend against doubling up to get 502mg.
Otherwise you’ll most likely be looking side effects.
For a safe and effective workout – stick to around 150 – 300mg. This will allow you explosive power with far less of the risk.
What about the ingredients in TNT’s Light the Fuse?
They could be better.
There are a few good choices here, but the main problem is the dosage.
Some ingredients have less than you need for a good workout and others can cause side effects.
We’ve written them up and you can check them all out below:
One of the better performing vasodilators.
L-Citrulline has been seen to promote blood flow, blood vessel dilation and most importantly; muscle pumps.
It works by being converted into L-Arginine, which promotes nitric oxide.
It’s a great choice in this blend – the only thing we would say is that there may not be enough here.
Although there’s 1.5g, studies have shown doses of 5 – 8g yield the best results. This may not have that much of an effect.
What Citrulline converts into.
Although it sounds like a good ideal to use L-Arginine, it’s actually not that effective.
Why? Because our bodies can’t absorb it properly. It doesn’t work well with oral supplementation.
It’s definitely not a good choice here.
An amino acid that helps reduce stress.
L-Tyrosine may help with your focus. Having been seen reduce stress caused by stimulants like caffeine.
It may allow you to concentrate more while on that ‘caffeine high’ in the gym.
A good nutrient for the pump.
Studies have shown that beetroot extract can help nitric oxide levels.
Again, this can help blood flow and overall pump.
An amino acid that has been seen to help buffer the acid in your muscles and help you train for longer.
The only downside with BA is that it may cause side effects. More on that in the other section later.
A nutrient that promotes strength.
By increasing water retention in your muscles, creatine allows you to produce more power while training.
It’s best suited to explosive athletes.
The best natural pre workout there is.
Caffeine has been linked to promoting energy and power output – in some cases it’s even been seen to promote metabolism and fat loss too.
Given the dosage in Light The Fuse, we recommend against double scooping this product due to the 251 mg per single serving – this is more than enough.
It may help promote fat loss, and has a hint of caffeine.
It won’t make much of a difference to your workout though.
Although there are some good ingredients in Light the Fuse – it’s not the best we’ve seen.
There’s under-dosing with the citrulline, a poor choice with ineffective L-Arginine, and a side effect risk with the Beta Alanine.
You can’t even double scoop to balance out the L-Citrulline because of the level of caffeine.
It’s not the best option out there.
The main thing you have to worry about here is the Beta Alanine.
One of the most common side effects reported with this amino acid is Paresthesia – excessive itching in the hands and face.
Although harmless, it can be incredibly annoying when you’re trying to train.

TNT Light the Fuse Conclusion
On the whole, this isn’t the best pre workout we’ve come across.
From this review – this is what you need to know about Light the Fuse:
- Under-Dosed Ingredients – L-Citrulline is clearly under-dosed here.
- Potential side effects – Beta Alanine has been linked to side effects.
- Can’t double-scoop it – Due to the caffeine level, you can’t double up on this product.
As you can see, it’s not your best option.
